Base Four - Mission

Lesson Two:

Identifying Your Life Mission

Identifying with Your Mission

Your Mission is tied to God’s glory in the Nations.

When we read the Bible with a discerning eye, we realize God’s eternal plan is for His glory in all nations. His intention is to bring people from all nations, tribes and tongues to worship before His throne.

Revelation 7:9-11 A Multitude from the Great Tribulation

After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” 11 All the angels stood around the throne and the elders and the four living creatures, and fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12 saying: “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, Thanksgiving and honor and power and might, Be to our God forever and ever. Amen.”

Your Mission is found in Matthew 28:18-20.

It is to go into all the world and make disciples of the nations. As believers we have one mission- the mandate given by Jesus to preach the Gospel and make disciples of the nations.

Your career may answer how you are going to go about fulfilling your life’s mission.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

Discuss a few things Jesus’ mission here on earth covered?

Discuss your mission as a member of His body. How does a person’s career choice affect his or her mission?

The World’s Condition

Matthew 28:19-20, Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and , lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. (KJV)

The world is lost. It needs repentance (a change of mind).

Romans 1:18-32

The world is dark. It needs light (enlightenment).

2 Corinthians 4:3-4

But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, 4 whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

The World is dead. It needs life (God’s life).

Romans 5:12-14 Death in Adam, Life in Christ

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned— 13 (For until the law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned according to the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come.

“The world is a graveyard without Christ.” ~ Bishop Johnson

DISCUSSION QUESTION

Using scriptural references discuss the truth of the world being lost, dark, and dead.

Your Life Mission

Mark 16:15 “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world (into every man’s world), and preach the gospel to every creature.

- Though we all have the mandate of reaching the lost world, we will each do it in our sphere of influence-in our “world”.

- God has given each of us gifts, talents, abilities and passions. He wants to use you and your unique personality, gifts and circumstances to reach the people around you with the Gospel.

DISCUSSION QUESTION

Discuss this statement: One does not have to be in the office of a pastor, teacher, prophet, apostle or an evangelist to fulfill his or her life mission.

Is it a true statement? Why?

As a professional ____________________ (fill in the blank, even if you are a student) how do you now understand what your life mission is and how you will fulfill it.

Simple Gospel Presentation

There are many ways to present the Gospel to a lost person. Below is the ABC of Salvation presentation. Learn it and use it in witnessing the lost. Help the person to:

- Admit that he is a sinner in need of salvation. Help them to see that they are guilty of sin.

Romans 3:23, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

The penalty of sin is spiritual death.

Romans 6:23, For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Good works cannot save him.

Titus 3:4-7, But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

- Believe the Gospel. The Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins on the cross, was raised by God from the grave. When we put our trust in Him, we receive the forgiveness of sin and eternal life.

John 3:16, 36

v16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

v36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.

Romans 5:8, But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 10:9-10

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

- Confess Jesus as Lord.

Romans 10:8-10

But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
