Faith moves God and faith Moves Mountains. However, faith will not move anything until it moves you. The first part of you that your faith will move is your mouth. The moment you act on the word of God, He makes Himself responsible for your results.
Biblical Basis
Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
James 2:20, “But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?”
Ephesians 2:8, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God…”
2 Corinthians 4:13, “We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak…’
Key Points
- Faith is a demonstrated trust in God, a choice followed by corresponding action.
- Real faith in God is believing and acting on the Word of God, regardless of what the physical evidence may be.
- There is believing faith and there is speaking faith or Faith is not something which we have, as much as it is something which we do.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
The Apostle Paul in 2 Thessalonians 3:1-2 requested prayers from evil men, taking note that ‘not all men have faith’. If all men don’t have faith, discuss how one acquires authentic or real faith.
How does real faith work?
All Believers Have Faith
- 2 Corinthians 4:13, “We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak…”
- Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.”
- Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
- Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.”
- Romans 12:3, “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Key Points
- We are believers. We have faith or we wouldn’t be saved.
- Without faith it is impossible to please God.
- Faith is from God and is planted in your spirit when you are born again.
- We all have ‘a measure of faith’.
- Faith is of the heart and not mental agreement.
- Faith can work in your heart with doubt in your head. You can believe something without understanding it.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
- How does one grow in faith?
- Faith is Based on the Word of God.
- II Timothy 3:16, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness…”
- I Thessalonians 2:13, “For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.”
- Romans 10:17, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
- John 15:7, “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.”
Key Points
- God's Word is infallible. His Word is true. God cannot lie.
- Faith begins where the will of God is known, and His Word is His will.
- The promises of the Word are received by faith.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
- Since faith is dependent upon knowing the will of God, where do I go to acquire such knowledge?
- Discuss one “giving himself to the Word and to prayer” as it relates to acquiring faith.
